Brighton & Hove Albion come into the opening game of the season off the back of a successful season, in staying up in the top flight. Their recruitment department have done well over the summer with the likes of Jahanbakhsh, Andone and Balogun all of which could slot straight into the starting 11 today.
Meanwhile, the Golden Boys will want to forget a rather disappointing season after starting so well last year. Deulofeu is the headline coup, permanently signing for a fee of around £11m after impressing on his loan spell at the back end of last season.
Despite this, many Watford supporters have been venting their frustration about the lack of attempt to secure a striker for the upcoming campaign- a position which had been scrutinised in previous years.
Both teams will be wanting to build on last season- what better way to do that by picking up maximum points today.
I believe Watford’s voodoo of not winning an opening game in the Premier League will continue as the game will end goalless, with each side sharing the points. 0-0
Watford – Doucoure (chance), Deulofeu (doubtful) and Chalobah (major doubt). Cleverley, Wilmot, Okaka and Kaboul are all out.
Brighton – Murray (chance), Locadia (chance), Izquierdo (doubt), Steele (doubt) and Andone (doubt).
